James and I did our 7th anniversary celebrating this weekend. Through his work he gets a GREAT discount to quite a few hotels, including the beautiful La Paloma. He booked us a room and we dropped Zack off with Brandon and Alexis for the night. (Gulp....the first time I've left Zack overnight!!) After leaving B and A with 4 pages of instructions and one very cute little boy we headed over to La Paloma. We were able to check in early (woohoo!) and headed down to the pool. While lounging poolside, James ordered the drink of the day and I ordered a frozen mocha. When James asked the pool girl what the drink of the day was her response was "I have no idea, but it's usually something fruity and frozen." When we checked in we were given a coupon for $2 off the drink of the day. So, based off of "fruity and frozen" and $2 off, James ordered it. We enjoyed the water and people watching. We saw one very red snapper who clearly neglected sunscreen on the upper half of his body. Ouch. We also enjoyed the sugar daddy with his young lady friend. Oh the people you will see at La Paloma.
That night we dined at Anthony's. We went there after James proposed to me and it makes us laugh how much we absolutely don't fit in there. But, the food is amazingly delicious and it's fun to celebrate and pretend to be fancy. The only near mishap was when I almost used my salad fork to eat my appetizer. The waiter quickly said "I have a fork for you." Ha...thank you sir, for my very special appetizer fork, it made my crabcake taste much better! We enjoyed the older couple that was seated at the table next to us. The wait staff kept trying to clear their martini glasses and the lady kept telling them not to because she had 4 drops of her martini left in the shaker thing that martinis come in. It kinda made me giggle. And, when she came back from the restroom the sweet old man stood up while she was being seated. Awwwww, the romance. We were also relieved to see them use a coupon for their meal, as we were going to bust out a giftcertificates.com discounted gift certificate as well. (Our 2nd coupon of the day!! Plus our discounted room rate...watch out, we like to save money.)
The next morning we slept in until 8! That would be 2 hours later than usual. It was amazing. It also felt like we wasted part of our day. When you are up at 6 you get so much accomplished by 8! We spent the morning lounging by the pool and then enjoying Starbucks and bagels, something we used to do often pre-child.
James has declared that instead of celebrating our anniversary on the "typical" big years (5, 10, 20, etc.) we will celebrate on years that are divisible by seven. So, for our 14th anniversary La Paloma can be expecting us. And you better believe we will have our coupons ready.
