Me: I just ran 3 miles in 25:03.
James: Fast woman.
Me: I kinda feel like barfing now.
James: That is what champions feel like.
He makes me laugh!! As I was running today, I was remembering how when I started running after Zack was born, that it would take me 12 minutes to run one (painful) mile. I would usually only run for 20ish minutes before I was completely done and could go no further. It's crazy to think that it used to take me 24 minutes to run 2 miles, and now I can run 3 miles in 25.

Here's one for the record books...
I beat Brandon and Alexis!!
Brandon and Alexis just might be the most on time couple ever. They are either early, or just on time. But really, most of the time they are early. I always feel bad when we are meeting up to run and I'm late. And I'm late pretty much every single time. I can usually blame Zack, cause he's a baby and can't talk...but today he was staying home with his dad. Of course, I was still late (and I probably can blame Zack)...but Brandon and Alexis arrived after me! Mark it on the calendar, cause it probably won't EVER happen again.
After their late arrival, we busted off 11 miles. We ran most of the course for the upcoming Oro Valley Half Marathon. Brandon so kindly paced us up the hill to start out. We decided that he's a great pace setter, but should probably keep his day job as heir to the throne at EC.
Highlights of the run:
1. Being there before B and A. (As James says..."No one makes my wife wait!")
2. The sweet old lady who was wearing a bright pink shirt with matching bright pink lipstick. (The exact same shade...no joke).
3. The pack of bikers that included an old man riding a yellow "velomobile", which is basically a banana on wheels.
4. Running the last 3/4 of a mile at a 7:51 pace (down a big hill...the laws of physics helped us go that fast).
Did I mention I was there before Brandon and Alexis???

You know it's going to be a tough run when...
You know it's going to be a tough run when you are done stretching, and you take the parking brake off the jogging stroller, and the wind blows the stroller right back into you.
I thought this afternoon would be a good time for a run. So I load Zack up into the stroller and off we go. I didn't receive a personal phone call from the weather man letting me know it was going to be quite windy this afternoon. Had he called, I would have stayed inside and ran on the treadmill. Instead, I ran a few laps around the neighborhood with Zack chilling in the BOB (which I believe is the BEST baby purchase we made). The first part of the run was slightly uphill, and into the wind. I walked it a bit, and my legs were still burning.
Despite walking parts, my first mile was at a 10:03 pace. The 2nd mile (with the wind at my back) was 8:54. The 3rd mile was back into the wind...and slower, 10:22. My last quarter mile was at a 8:17 pace. Sweet!
Had I stayed inside I would have been cheated out of using my Garmin watch (which I love and just might make me a running nerd), and hearing an old man telling me to pace myself, and the old lady saying "you go girl!" She made my day.
It's also not advisable to eat a quesadilla for lunch when you are planning on an afternoon run.

Blogging??
I think blogs are fun...and I think it would be fun for me to have a blog. So, I'm gonna give it a go. It will probably be incredibly boring, and I will be the only one who reads it, but that's quite alright.
I'm trying to think of something interesting to say, but I'm realizing that while I find my life incredibly interesting, most other people might not. I enjoy running, which most people just don't understand. I'm running a half marathon at the end of March with good ole Brandon and Alexis. They've been much better at training than I have been. Today they went on a 10 mile run...I did not. I took Zack to a doctors appointment. I hope I don't get toasted.
When I'm out running, I like to say hi to the other runners and walkers, especially the ones who are grumpy and trying their hardest not to make eye contact. I also attempt to have conversations with Zack, who's chilling in the jogging stroller. That kid is only 9 months old, and he's already been on a 12 mile run. Incredible.
So there you have it. My first blog post. And it's about absolutely nothing.
In other exciting news, Zack weighs a little over 18lbs and is a little over 30inches tall. The doctor verified that he is indeed tall and skinny, and that yes, it will be hard to find pants that fit him.
